Hot off the back of the record breaking Carlisle Sale, the Exeter Sale wasn’t to be overshadowed with two In Lamb ewes realising over 2000gns and 100% clearance rate.

It was the Derryman Family of the Yarcombe Flock that led the way, firstly winning Champion in the pre sale show under Judge Ellie Alvis SWINBROOK and then dominating the sale too.

Top price on the day was 2300gns for a Yarcombe shearling ewe sired by Treworthal Marshell and out of a Yarcombe Hero bred dam. She sells in lamb to Graylen The Jackel and makes the long journey to Suffolk to join the Middleditch Family’s St Paul Flock. The Champion was the first in the ring which also  meet with keen interest from buyers both in the market and online and achieved 2100gns. This Yarcombe ewe is by Treworthal Marshall and out of a homebred ewe by Lecropt Legend and has a TSI of 361. She is also in lamb to Graylen the Jackel and also heads to the St Paul Flock.

The Derrymans pen was much in demand with another two lots reaching 1400gns.

Senior Ewes topped at 800gns for Welsh breeders John Harrison & Sue Parry’s Parkstock bred Ewe. She is sired by Lawshall Matchmaker and out of a Parkstock bred ewe and sells in lamb to Lawshall Thor who has a TSI of 357. This lady will make her home with the Bishopscourt Flock of Shaun & Charles Carter at Ottery St Mary.

The Derrymans were back at the top for the Ewe Lamb trade with two of their lambs making 700gns, both sired by Graylen The Jackel and both out of Millfields Sergeant bred ewes. These Ewe Lambs travel together to the Seawell Flock of Joe & Sophie Dilibero in Northamptonshire.

Reserve Champion was a ewe lamb from Sue & Robin Small & Faye Edworthy of the Goodstone Flock. Sired by a homebred ram she has already been on the show circuit this year and was bought for 500gns by Tom & Tash Bougourd of the Loxhill Flock near Bristol. The Smalls also kindly offered a Ewe Lamb for sale in aid of the South West Club which made 300gns to Little Yeo Farms to start a new flock.
