Averages up again at the Premier Sale

What a cracking day in the office for the breed at the Premier Sale at Shrewsbury with 19 prices of 1000gns and above with averages significantly up on last year with 34 ram lambs averaging £1110.22 (£955.50 2023)

It was Louis Stainthorpe from WHITBY Flock, Yorkshire who had a sale to remember taking the top three prices of the day with his pen of ram lambs who all had the looks and the figures to match. Top of the day was 4500gns for Whitby A072400259. Out of a homebred ewe and sired by the homebred Whitby Dracula, who was champion at the Carlisle sale last year and in the top 1% of the breed on figures. He found his new home with Graham and Judith Galbraith for their Graylen flock, Kendal after spotting him at the National Training weekend in April.

The second highest price was 3600gns for Whitby A072400250, another in the top 1% of the breed on figures. Sired by Treworthal Poldark and out of a Thorbeck ewe and heads to Scotland for Irene Steel, Powblack Flock, Stirling.

Completing a hat-trick of top prices came the third and final ram lamb from the Whitby pen, this time Whitby A072400251. Again, sired by the Carlisle champion Whitby Dracula and out of a Wilstrop Legend daughter, he was knocked down to D J Taylor, Taunton, Somerset, at 3000gns.
