In lamb ewes were in demand at the HDSBA Sale at Carlisle on Saturday with three vendors securing bids of 2000gns but it was a Ram Lamb that topped the sale with a record price at Carlisle of 3500gns.

It made the long journey from Whitland, Pembrokeshire worthwhile for Steffan Harries and Family when their Llainterfyn Ram Lamb secured the top price. This lamb has figures in the top 10% for 8 week weight, top 25% for TSI & Maternal Index and was Male Champion at the 2025 Royal Welsh. Sired by Glanrafon Spare rib, Llainterfyn Stand Out will make his way back to the Derryman Family in Devon for their Yarcombe Flock after spotting him when Phillip Derryman judged the Welsh.

The first ewe in the ring was the Overall Show Champion from Louis & Becky Stainthorpe Whitby Flock from Whitby, Yorkshire and was the first lot to make 2000gns. This shearling ewe was sired by a previous Carlisle Champion, Whitby Dracula, and out of a home bred ewe and sold in lamb with a single by Treworthal Marshell. She heads to Dumfrieshire to John Grossicks Rockhall Flock.
