It was a fantastic day of showing yesterday at Balmoral Show 2023. Our Judge Judith Galbraith of the Graylen Flock, Cumbria saw an excellent turnout of Hampshire Downs in every class.
One that stood out was a lovely Ewe Lamb bred by Peter and Harry Stevenson, Lenaderg Flock, which was crowned champion on the day. The Ewe Lamb, sired by Glenbrook The Ranger and Bred from a Lenaderg Ewe, is a very stylish Ewe Lamb that stood out in the lineup. This was Peter and Harry’s first Balmoral Champion since establishing their flock in 2013. Father and Son were completely overjoyed and honoured to have received this yesterday and a big congratulation to them both.
The judge commented ”It was a pleasure to judge at the Balmoral show with a lovely selection of sheep exhibited. My champion was a ewe lamb who initially stood out in a really strong class of ewe lambs and then again in the championship. She is a correct balanced lamb with a fantastic carcass and that little extra something that just catches the eye’
Reserve Champion was an Untrimmed Ram Lamb bred by Allen & Vicky McFadden, Ashely Flock. This Ram lamb sired by Higher Grawley Larkin and from a homebred Ewe Ashely Dakota R34.
The Northern Ireland Club would like to say a big thank you to Judge Judith Galbraith and congratulations to all exhibitors on the day.
On the second day the Hampshire Group of Three from the Fletcher Family, Loughan Moss went on to become Reserve Interbreed Group.
